Green Initiatives Application 2016 update

The Green Initiatives Application 2016 – Development Charge Discount (“Green Development”) form enables commercial and industrial project applicants in the Town of Caledon to apply for a reduced development-charge rate when their building meets specific green-building or renewable-technology standards. The document outlines the eligible green development pathways: certified LEED (Certified, Silver, Gold, Platinum) certification, or incorporation of certain “green technologies” such as solar hot-water systems, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, or transpired solar collectors — in accordance with By-Law 2008-57.

Applicants complete the form with project information, applicant and owner details, description of proposed green initiative, and attach supporting documentation (registration with the Canada Green Building Council or engineering certification). The form also lists how the discount rate increases for higher levels of LEED certification or the inclusion of green technologies, plus conditions such as third-party verification within three years of construction.

Whether you’re a developer, investor or property owner planning a new commercial or industrial facility in Caledon and seeking to qualify for reduced development-charges by achieving greener building outcomes, this application is your first step toward aligning your project with the town’s sustainability incentives.
