BVD Group celebrates official groundbreaking for the Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Bolton
Yesterday, Town of Caledon Mayor Annette Groves, Councillors, and staff joined the BVD Group and Marriott staff to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the new Fairfield Inn by Marriott Hotel in Bolton.
“I am proud to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Bolton,” said Town of Caledon Mayor Anette Groves. “Investments in Caledon’s growing tourism industry create jobs for residents and opportunities to welcome visitors to experience the scenic beauty and amenities that make Caledon unique.”
This major new investment, led by the BVD Group, will add 118 new rooms to Caledon’s growing tourism and hospitality sector. The company is investing an estimated $32 million in the development of the new hotel. The project anticipated to bring 100 new temporary jobs to support the construction of the facility, and 50 permanent positions once the hotel opens.
Caledon is renowned for its historic villages, beautiful trails, and conservation areas. In 2023, local hotel occupancy rates increased with growing demand for multi-day travel in the Headwaters region. As the town prepares to welcome major events such as the RBC Canadian Open in 2025, this new hotel will create additional space to welcome visitors and guests to experience all that Caledon has to offer.
“The BVD Group is excited to bring the Fairfield Inn by Marriott to a growing Town like Caledon,” said Bikram Dhillon, CEO. “We are committed to fostering a positive impact in the community and dedicated to being an integral part of Caledon’s future growth.”
The new Fairfield Inn by Marriott is expected to open in 2025, creating new space for visitors to Caledon and ensuring our community is ready to welcome the world.

Amachris recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. We spoke to the owners about how the business has evolved over the years, the challenges that have shaped their growth, and the lessons learned along the way.
Q1: What are the major milestones the company has achieved over the past two decades?
Amachris is a proudly owned and operated Canadian business, building exceptional retail spaces for industry-leading international brands across the country. From humble beginnings in 2004, it’s an incredible achievement that we have become a national company. Among the accomplishments we are most proud of is the team we have created, and the genuine relationships we have with our clientele. We measure success not just in the extraordinary stores we’ve brought to life, but also in the quality of the relationships we’ve been able to grow. This is at the core of who we are as a company, and we take pride in that.
Q2: How has the industry landscape changed since the company's inception?
Amachris is a niche organization. We are unique in that we only build retail stores from coast-to-coast. Over the past 20 years, we have become experts in the field of retail construction because we understand that we are not just in the construction business but are in the fashion and design industries. Working closely with world-leading retailers, we have seen some of the most spectacular stores and designs in the world. More and more, retailers are putting design and intention at the forefront of their retail builds.
"I have learned that there are three key instruments to master when owning and operating a business. One–enjoy what you do and seek out people of like mind; Two–demonstrate honour and integrity; And three–build beautiful things!" –Franco Pignotti Managing Director, Amachris
Q3: How did the pandemic affect the company, and what strategies were implemented to navigate through the challenges?
The pandemic was an unforeseen occurrence that affected many industries across the country. During this time, we were in unknown territory–like so many others who own and operate a business in North America. When returning to work was permitted, Amachris put an enormous amount of care into the wellbeing of all employees and contracted workers to ensure a healthy and safe working environment was provided. Health and safety have always been a top priority.
Q4: What sustainable practices have been implemented to contribute to a greener future?
In collaboration with our customers, Amachris has built a number of flagship projects incorporating sustainable design and execution. We have seen the use of materials including wood, recycled metal, recycled plastic, as well as the monitoring of air quality. We are excited to participate in retailers bringing these green materials into their store locations.
Q5: What exciting plans and initiatives does the company have in store for the future?
Amachris plans to continue orchestrating and producing spectacular retail builds across the country. We are committed to our clients and look forward to supporting their continued growth. We have also found purpose in supporting our community. Caledon is a warm and hardworking township, and we help several organizations and initiatives assisting animals, families and children’s sports. Continuing this important work will always be a part of who we are.

On the occasion of their 10th anniversary, Complete Integrative Care recently rebranded and relaunched operations at a new location in Bolton. We spoke to the owner about the inspiration behind the rebrand, relocation, and future aspirations for the business.
Q1: What inspired the decision to rebrand and how does the new branding align with long-term goals?
Since I have become a mom to two boys, I grew as a business owner into motherhood, and I also took that with the clinic vision: to build a center that supported new upcoming families and existing families journeying through their health and wellness. Many of the practitioners have also grown professionally, taking new continuing education courses that encompassed more modalities and resources to support families who were trying to conceive. Also, support for pre- and post-natal care, women's health, and wellness. It was personally life-changing to become a parent, and I wanted to connect with and help the community through this journey through the services that we offer.
Q2: What are the unique upgrades or modifications that can be expected at the new location?
The brand-new location offers a new spacious lounge and relaxing area, and the treatment rooms offer comfort while receiving care through any service. There are new add-ons and services as well as ample parking, direct billing to insurance companies and online booking.
"It's been a long road, but I'm still standing on my two feet and stronger than ever, for if that road was the one I least travelled on and had I not taken it, I wouldn't be where I am today. The more something scares you, take a leap, have faith, and believe in yourself; take more risks, for you'll never know until you try. It's the life of an entrepreneur, but most importantly, it's the life of a mompreneur and womanpreneur who keeps going, igniting the fire/love within." - Rita Troia, Owner Complete Integrative Care
Q3: How does the clinic plan to ensure a smooth transition for existing patients to the new location?
The transition of existing patients to the new location has been a smooth one. All social media sites, such as IG, the website, and Google, have been updated to inform people of the new location.
Q4: How does the clinic intend to engage with the local community at its new location?
The new clinic plans to participate in more community outreach programs for local businesses, such as Orange Theory for Lunch and Learns or any other businesses that are interested in a presentation on how our services can impact the health and wellbeing of others. We also plan to participate in the farmer's market and any other local Caledon community events.

Mukesh Sharma's Riyasat Indian Restaurant and Bar is more than just a place to eat; it's a destination where the vibrant spirit of India is celebrated in every detail.
Tell us about you, why did you decide to open your own business?
The inspiration behind Riyasat stems from a deep-rooted passion for the culinary arts and a desire to share the rich heritage of Indian cuisine with the world. The founder, a seasoned chef with years of experience in some of the most renowned kitchens across India, envisioned a space where the intricate flavors of their homeland could be celebrated and savored. The decision to open Riyasat was driven by a longing to create a gathering place that felt like an extension of home, where every meal is a festivity, and every guest is family.
Why did you decide to locate in Bolton?
Choosing Bolton as the home for Riyasat was no coincidence. Bolton is a vibrant, multicultural town with a thriving food scene and a community that embraces diversity. It presented the perfect backdrop for a restaurant that aims to blend traditional Indian hospitality with a contemporary dining experience. The town's welcoming nature and appreciation for global cuisines made it the ideal location to introduce the rich tapestry of Indian flavors and aromas.
What is your favourite item that you make at Riyasat and why?
Among the myriad of dishes that Riyasat offers, the favorite has to be our signature dishes such as Butter chicken, Dal-E-Riyasat and Laal Maas. These dishes hold a special place on our menu and in our hearts, primarily because it embodies the essence of Indian cooking – a harmonious blend of spices, slow-cooked to perfection, resulting in a dish that is both comforting and luxurious. The Lamb Rogan Josh is a testament to our commitment to authenticity and quality, making it a must-try for anyone who steps into Riyasat.
What is the best bit of wisdom you have learned along the way?
The journey of establishing and running Riyasat has been filled with learning experiences, but one piece of wisdom stands out: the importance of staying true to one's roots while embracing change. In the culinary world, trends come and go, but the authenticity of flavors, the quality of ingredients, and the love poured into each dish are what create lasting memories and loyal customers. This philosophy has guided us through our journey, helping us navigate challenges and celebrate successes.
Riyasat Indian Restaurant and Bar is more than just a place to eat; it's a destination where culture, cuisine, and community come together to create an unforgettable experience.
