Business Opening: British Bites

British Bites owner Nicola

British Bites is the place to visit if you’re looking for snacks and foods imported from Britain and their delicious hand pies are not to be missed! Recently owner Nicola Kreuzwiesner told us a little about the business.

Tell us about your business.

British Bites is a retail store offering a variety of imported items from Britain. We opened the store in June 2021.

I operate the store with my daughter Lexi and Glenn, the chef, makes our hand pies which you can purchase to cook at home or have us cook them here for you.

We are open Tuesday thru Friday 11:00 to 5:00, Saturday 10:00 to 4:00 and Sunday 12:00 to 4:00.

Tell us about you, why did you decide to open your own business?

Glenn and I worked together in the past and often talked about opening a joint venture together but then Covid hit so we decided to start small and found this space on Queen Street which meets our needs.

We are hoping to grow the business over the next few years then move to a larger location in Bolton where we will be able to make more items in house.

Why did you decide to locate in Bolton?

I am from England. My family moved to Canada in the 80s when I was 8.

I attended Humberview which is where I met and then married my husband Dean.

Dean and I loved Bolton so much we decided to stay and raise our family here.

Over the years I have sought out British products to buy but have always had to leave Bolton to purchase any, so I believe there is the need here.

What do you love about Bolton/Caledon?

Bolton has always been such a great town with such a diverse population, so it just seemed like the right fit to open the shop here.
